JIETAI TEMPLE

The Jietai Temple climb is maybe the most popular climb in the west of the city for cyclists, due to its easily accessible location in the western suburbs.

The climb is often the first one that beginners take on when first exploring the western foothills. The climb’s 4.63 kilometre length, with an average gradient of 4.4% will test the beginner rider. Watch out for the advanced riders who will also use this hill as a time trial, often reaching the summit in less than 10 minutes!

A summit of this hill will reward with you some nice views of the western suburbs, along with an opportunity to visit the temple itself which was first built approximately 1500 years ago… long before there were so many lycra-clad cyclists passing by.
