While the classic main road up Miaofengshan receives most of the attention, those with local knowledge know that it’s the backroad up Miaofengshan that is the most special route up the mountain.

Climbing up from Xia’An Lu, the first half of the climb takes you onto quiet winding roads where you are immediately transported into rural Beijing with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. 

After passing though Dagou Village half way up the climb, the road opens up onto some of the smoothest tarmac in the city. There are hardly any cars on this stretch, as the glass smooth road winds its way up Miaofengshan. The views are stunning and if you arrive early enough, you may just have the whole road to yourself!….This is Beijing cycling paradise.
